Seats Still Available for Edge of the Wedge

January 6, 2014

Are you looking for ways to gain an edge in the tourism industry? Share your business, snowyour community or your landscape in memorable ways with your ideal guests? What would it be like if you could tap into new customer’s and add new products to your inventory that bring to life the special things in your own backyard?

The Edge of the Wedge is the first program in Canada to offer the kind of full immersion and hands on experiences to develop new skills in experiential travel products and community collaboration. There is a global shift taking place in how visitors want to experience their destinations. People want to be connected, to understand and experience local culture and traditions in low impact and sustainable ways. The opportunity we have as operators and service providers is to create engaging visitor experiences in ways that allow for an intimate connection with people and places!

The Edge of the Wedge will show you how to create engaging visitor experiences and more!  You’ll find out how to create and deliver new experiences for different types of visitors, learn how this leads to increased revenues and a stronger competitive positioning, develop long-lasting community partnerships, and align your company or community strategically with your regional and provincial tourism marketing strategy.

It’s an innovative program where you learn to think like a traveller by participating in a number of authentic Atlantic Canadian experiences.

  • Using a variety of engaging learning techniques, you’ll discuss the business opportunities, receive the rationale and tools like costing and pricing spreadsheets, and learn from business frameworks that you can use to create and sell experiences for your business, community, organization and destination.
  • Bring two or three members from your community to this course. As a “cluster”, you’ll find that you can go back to your community not just with ideas, but with best practices, and an expanded network of other operators who “get it”.
  • We think that one of the most enjoyable aspects of this course is that you will meet many of the tourism partners in the Gros Morne area, who want to share their successes as a result of putting into practice experiential travel techniques and principles.
  • And, yes, we will get you out into the national park, which will act as our living laboratory over the four days.
