Social Media as a Tool for Advocacy

A group of NS Edge of the Wedge graduates are utilizing YouTube to help influence and reverse a decision by Nova Scotia’s Government to cut funding to the ferry service between Yarmouth, NS and Maine.  Julie Grandy one of the lead organizers of the YouTube initiative says, “we know this decision will impact all of Nova Scotia (with ripples throughout Atlantic Canada). It will not just affect the traditional tourism industry, but will also affect businesses and individuals who receive indirect income from the tourism industry. Last year, 76,000 people arrived on the CAT ferry. This year, many of them will simply not be able to travel to Atlantic Canada, and instead will find other locations to visit.”   To learn more about this issue and view the videos click here.
