Heading West With Travel Manitoba
September 19, 2011
You know the saying “go West young man, go West”. Well instead of shipping out our people from Atlantic Canada we are now shipping out our ideas! Thanks to the support of the Atlantic Canadian Opportunities Agency (Tourism Atlantic) and Parks Canada, GMIST has been at the leading edge of experiential travel, providing training and support to help grow the tourism industry in Atlantic Canada and beyond. Little by little other regions in Canada have begun to take notice about the movement taking place in Atlantic Canada’s tourism industry. One of those regions taking notice has been Manitoba and through a unique collaboration – Travel Manitoba will be implementing a new program called the Cutting Edge. This is a direct result of some very enlightened participants from Manitoba having experienced GMIST’s Edge of the Wedge program in Gros Morne, Newfoundland and Labrador. Wanting to impact their own provincial tourism operators and destinations, Travel Manitoba has embarked on an incredible journey with the Tourism Cafe (Nancy Arsenault & Celes Devar) and GMIST, to share the concepts and ideals of experiential travel with the tourism industry in Manitoba. Over the next year, operators, destination managers and tourism enablers will be participating in workshops and coaching sessions with the idea of growing the experiential travel offerings in Manitoba. We wish to thank our friends from the West for believing in what we do at GMIST and we wish them all the best. To learn more about the Manitoba program please visit their website .
