Webinar 1: Creating Story Experiences for Visitors

1:30 – 2:30 PM AST (2:00 -3:00 PM NST) – Thursday, March 31

Creating memorable experiences for visitors is at the heart of tourism—but how do you communicate what the experience is like to a digital visitor? More than ever, visitors are spending time online— before, during, and after a travel experience— and are influenced by the stories they find. This webinar will explore how to use storytelling to bring your tourism experiences to life in digital contexts and communicate the sensory aspects of your experience to draw visitors in and engage them in their decision process. This session will also provide practical ways to use storytelling to create a more immersive story experience for your prospective visitor.

Webinar 3: Telling small stories with big impact

1:30 – 2:30 PM AST (2:00 PM – 3:00 PM NST) – Thursday, May 5

We’ve all heard it: you only have three seconds to capture someone’s attention on social media! So how do you communicate a story that doesn’t require hours to create, a big budget, or a team of people to share your story successfully? This session will offer creative and practical ways to create micro-stories that will engage and connect emotionally with the right visitor for your business. We’ll look at specific examples of tourism micro-stories on different social platforms and explore what is working well for each of them. Each participant will receive a best practices checklist for storytelling on social media at the end of the session.

About Mags Doyle

More than a decade ago, Margaret (Mags) started asking businesses, “What is your story?” and discovered that the answer was never the same. Each story was as unique as the owner but it often seemed like this individuality wasn’t experienced by customers.

Today, Margaret continues to prompt leaders, owners, operators, and destinations with this essential question in order to create a catalyst for new thinking about the story they are telling. A passionate believer in what she describes as the ‘living narrative’, Margaret has developed story systems, training, and media for large corporations, governments, destinations, and businesses in order to shift cultures, inform and direct strategy, and bring stories to life. One of her favourite parts of working on a new project is the challenge of solving a narrative puzzle using digital, analog, memory, media and real-life elements to create a story experience.
