A Season of Opportunities – Transform Your Tourism Business!
October 6, 2010
As summer fades from memory and we slip into the comforts of fall in Atlantic Canada we take time to reflect on a busy season and get ready for upcoming training opportunities that can help transform our tourism businesses. October is one of the busiest months for training in Atlantic Canada with numerous opportunities to join Best Practice Missions or training offerings from Industry Associations, the Bonavista Institute and GMIST’s famous Edge of the Wedge Experiential Travel Program. The Edge program has become a rite of passage now for successful businesses and is looked forward to by many. I often get asked what this whole experiential travel thing is about and my answer is to point them to people in industry who are doing it well to demonstrate why they need to move in this direction. One of those successful experience entrepreneurs in our region is Victoria Graham who owns Hooking By The Sea Retreats on Brier Island in Nova Scotia. What an amazing entrepreneur who is doing some very remarkable experiential offerings connecting environment and art through rug hooking. She has continued to grow her business over the years and has added interesting elements such as a fiber mill (complete with an Alpaca) to expand the experience offering even further. She has a really fun video online at http://www.scotiapages.com/ that shows visitors a bit of what they can experience. So if you want to learn more about how you can transform your business check out our Edge of the Wedge program (Oct 25-28 & Oct 29-Nov1) you won’t be disappointed!
